Blackout abuse
Is it just me or is every mes I run into in team and random packing this since the GWWC?
I play monk and I'm getting knockdown>blackout>rinse, repeat.
With a boon prot I don't even get a chance to get of a reversal before I'm locked out again.

yes, between that and knocklock (W/E hammer, elite knockdown-> Gale -> non-elite knockdown), even with 2 monks, it can be difficult to last long.

I'm waiting for the thread on all the people making Gale warriors and crippling shot rangers.
Yes people see builds win but its purely basic tatic's.
Basic like...
How do I get to point A to point B
How do I stop an enemy from going to point B
How could I catch up to the enemy
Hopfully everyone noticed that they all wanted to make sure they could catch up/cripple the enemy into submition... very very basic tatic's were used, and used by stabe builds, hardly any weak links...
and then theres iway... I'll leave it at that.

Blackout used to have a 5 second recharge you can effectively "Blackout" one person for the entire game with a ranger.

I know that's good but really come on. Be orginal or at least half way. Hell I put well of blood on my boon prot to have some fun and I found that it fits nicely.
Guess I'll have to wait till next week for the game to be fun again.

I thought blackout has a 5 sec recharge? In the same 5 secs where you can't do anything cause your skills are disabled.

I guess the GWWC really help commoners to catch what work and what not.
My only complain is that, touch range skills even go through spell breaker and obsidian flesh. There are 0 skill out there that can counter it directly.
The only indirect thing you can do against it is kiting, but not when they can knock you down 24/7 with gale.
Tough chances.
Now, I just hope everyone catch up in body blocking for your monk, like how you cut-way for your partner in basketball court.

Why not instead of nerfing this skill, simply buff other skills so that there are some alternatives to using this for shutdown. Just like everyone callling for a nerf to gale and cripple shot and distortion. Stop with the nerfs and start buffing skills instead. Plus if you nerf to many skills, the only good ones will be the new ones added by the next chapter, which will be subsiquently nerfed into oblivian.

Guess I'll have to say this again. This is not a nerf blackout cripple shot gale thread.
Pointing out the difference before GWWC and after. Take half of their builds and that is what is running around in TA right now. Just about every other battle I hit some variation of the same builds.
This is a thread to discuss the aftermath of GWWC.

i have been running blackout with my ranger for months and been called a newb for it, now people are complaining its overpowered? forget you people, and what he said interruptions really mess me up when using it, when you see a normally ranged character getting a little too close GET AWAY, you complain about blackout cause you are too lazy or not good enough to pay close attention to the obvious

People are using it for the same reason people use 55 monks.
Smart people came up with it and gee-golly it works!

The skills speak for themselves. With your reaction I can guess that you see how good it is and don't want it change.
Sayings its overpowerd is just an opinion. Watching it be overpowered is a different story. Blackout for 7 seconds>gale 3 sec knockdown. If you can't kill someone in 10 seconds you have to be pretty bad.
Might as well give me a hex elite with blackout's affect then when it ends in 7 seconds knockdown. Does that seem overpowered?

maybe people will also catch on that it's important to slaughter the shut down chars at the beginning of matches, or is that too much to ask?

Nope. It would only be useable by mesmers (the req for 7s is 14 dom), it would use up the elite slot, it would be removable and stoppable with spell breaker (because it is hex, not skill). If the cost was the same, it would also take 15-20 energy and leave exhaustion.
